ABSTRACT
Trocars require an effective seal to prevent the escape of gases and fluids from the body during and after penetration of the Trocar.  Without an effective seal, you can not create nor maintain a pneumo-peritoneum, which is essential for the conduct of endoscopic surgery.  While current Trocar seals are characterized by multiple parts, the ERBLAN Trocar seal is an innovative, highly effective, simple design composed of one part.
